Protector interacts with the Local Community for jobs

The Protector Group were recently successful in winning the temporary security contract for the demolition and construction works at Walker High School & Technology College, in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The remit was not only to provide a security system designed and installed to British Standard with the ability to secure the entire perimeter of the project but to also be used by the client as a project tool for health & safety and production.

The install consisted of thirteen of our BASTION columns and had with the addition of a security gate officer to control access and egress for both vehicles and pedestrians, which took only three weeks to install.

The Protector Group had the resource to supply an in house security officer, who had experienced previous projects with the contractor, however the decision was taken to engage with the local community to find a recruit.

After advertising the post and having over 60 applicants, the successful candidate, an unemployed person from the surrounding area was recruited and trained, vetted, uniformed and put to work.

Sir Robert McAlpine of Walker Technology College was delighted with the security officer that was appointed and once the project was complete, transferred the new recruit to another local project, before employing him directly for an internal role.
